Belinda Haikes is an interdisciplinary artist working in social media,
digital media and, drawing. Influenced by having lived in three countries by the time
she was 15, her work is centered on the poetics of identity construction in the
post-human world and how technology creates connections to each other through art.
Recent exhibitions include the Asian Arts Initiative, Philadelphia,
Los Angeles Center for the Digital Art, Village Nomad, France,
Digital Fringe, Australia, and the Weatherspoon Museum in North Carolina.
Currently a PhD candidate in the
Media Art and Text Program at
Virginia Commonwealth University,
Belinda’s dissertation focuses on how intimacy is constructed through the
technologically constructed work of art. She also runs two blogs, Life, the Universe
and Art an artist interview blog and I Love Mark Making, a studio blog that investigates
drawing in a post- material world. She currently holds the position of
Visiting Assistant Professor at the
University of North Carolina at Greensboro,
teaching in the
digital design department.
